About the SchoolAbout the School:Dar us Salaam Academy is a traditional madrasa situated in the east of Mauritania close to the city of Kiffa. It is built on the ground that much of the distortion of Islam seen today is due to the abandonment of the traditional model of education. It is one of the few schools left in the world that preserves the traditional and holistic style of orthodox Sunni Islamic education.
The curriculum encompasses the study of texts only understood through rigorous interpretations from highly qualified scholars which are passed down through unbroken chains of narration (isnad). A Reminder on Spending in the Sake of Allah ﷻ
عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال:
(قال الله: أَنْفِق يا ابن آدم أُنْفِق عليك)
رواه البخاري ومسلم
On the authority of Abi Huraira may Allah be pleased with him, the messenger of Allah may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him said that Allah said, "Spend oh son of Adam and I will spend on you"

Significance of Sadaqah and Zakat
We all know the importance that Allah places on giving Sadaqah & Zakat as they are mentioned over and over in the Qur'an and in prophetic traditions. As part of the classical Islamic tradition the Mauritanians from a very early age study the Seerah and the virtues of Rasul Allah Salah Allahu Alayhi wa Salam and are inculcated with the love and praise of our beloved. It is very fitting to start this Sadaqah and Zakat campaign in the month in which we see manifestations of praise for our beloved at the highest.
Mauritania consistently experiences droughts and water shortages and most villages struggle with sustainable light sources and electricity. For a land so religiously and spiritually rich it is our obligation as an Ummah to try an enrich those in Mauritania that are afflicted with poverty and extreme economic hardship. Allah Says in the Qur'an:
