What is Zakat al-Fitr?
- Zakat al-Fitr is a charity taken for the poor that must be given before Eid prayer, before the end of the month of Ramadan. It must be given by every self-supporting Muslim on behalf of themselves and their dependents.

Abdullah Ibn ‘Umar said that the Prophet ﷺ made it incumbent on all the slave or free Muslims, male or female, to pay one Sa' of dates or barely as Zakat al-Fitr. (Hadith, Bukhari)
